Prof. Meloni is visiting the Risk Center from June 2023 - July 2023. During his time at ETH the planned Risk Center activities mainly include integration of uncertainty and stochasticity in evaluation and optimization models for transport systems. Nonetheless, the exchange period will also benefit from planned interactions along multiple directions mixing methodological and applications, with two more groups involved in the ETH Risk Center being very relevant (Reliability and Risk Engineering: energy aspects; Risk, Safety and Uncertainty Quantification: uncertainty quantification for continuous and discrete systems). Overall, the proposed research will be performed: "Joint research activities on planning and scheduling" in collaboration with Prof. Francesco Corman.

Prof. Desai visited the Risk Center from January - April 2023. During her time at ETH, Dr. Desai explored how current structural inequalities and future projections of social and economic development across the globe are going to shape disaster and displacement risk in the coming decades and centuries. During her visit Dr. Desai seeked to make 1) advances on analysis of historic and current trends and patterns in social and economic development in selected hot spot regions and at the global level, exploring correlations and causality in a lateral manner; 2) development of a conceptual framework and identification of potential indicators and denominators to integrate into existing risk modelling approaches in collaboration with Prof. David Bresch and other ETH colleagues and external partners. Dr. Desai presented a talk at the Risk Center Seminar Series.

Prof. Jovanović visited the Risk Center from January 2022 - April 2023. He was involved in onging research projects at the ETH Risk Center. Dr. Chen visited the Risk Center in June 2022. During her visit she worked on topics within Quantitative Risk Management. This visit further strengthened the close academic links between the ETH Risk Center and the Risk Management Institute and the Department of Statistics and Applied Probability at NUS. In this context, the presence of ETH’s CREATE initiatives on the campus of NUS played an important role. The visit of Dr. Chen was of interest to a wider group of Risk Center affiliated colleagues in particular in the fields of Machine Learning and Renewable Energy Data Analytics. There is also an interest from the statisticians within the D-MATH. Dr. Chen presented a talk at the Risk Center Seminar Series.

Prof. Broccardo visited the Risk Center from July - September 2021. The main goal of his visit was to further pursue the work on modeling the impact of contagion control measures on the economy of a region. The objective was to develop a pilot and an example and go back to SwissRe (and other potentially interested Risk Center partners) to see funding for further collaboration. Given Prof. Broccardo’s work on disaster resilience of urban communities, the second objective was to examine the use of Gaussian processes to model post-disaster recovery. In this field, he collaborated with Prof. Stojadinovic as well as with Professors Sansavini and Sudret. The third objective was to investigate the use of Bayesian updating to integrate early post-disaster damage information into probabilistic models for regional damage and recovery prediction, all in the scope of the ongoing Risk Center DynaRisk project.
